Sister Juana was born in Arequipa, Peru. She graduated from Nta Sra De los Delores High School in 1980 and earned a Certificate in English from the Peruvian/American Institute in 1990. She then earned a Diploma in Technical Accounting from the Institute Honorio Delgado E. in 1991.
Sister Juana entered the Congregation on September 8, 1992 in Peru. On February 21, 2001, she withdrew from the Congregation for a period of reflection, but always stayed in close touch with the Sisters.
She then re-entered the Maryknoll Sisters Congregation on January 6, 2014 and pronounced her First Profession of Vows on August 10, 2014 and her Final Profession of Vows on August 12, 2018.
Sister Juana’s first mission assignment was giving Congregational Service to the elderly/ill Sisters from 1994-1994 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center, Maryknoll, NY. During this time, she also earned a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language from SUNY New Paltz, NY in 1994.
In 1995, she received her first overseas mission assignment to Thailand/Cambodia studying the Language and culture. From 1996-1999, Sister Juana engaged in an HIV/AIDS ministry, providing education and care to those suffering. She also earned a Certificate in Pastoral Studies from the East Asian Pastoral Institute located at the Ateneo de Manila University, Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines in 2009. From 2016-2017, Sister Juana’s HIV/AIDS Ministry was moved to Dili, East Timor. During this time, she also engaged in informal education, teaching English and Special Education.
In 2019, she returned to the Maryknoll Sisters Center, Maryknoll, NY to provide Congregational Service to the elderly/ill Sisters.
