Sister Hyun Jung Kim

Sister Hyun Jung was on born April 7th, 1972 in Daegu, Korea to Nu Mi Kwon and Jae Jin Kim; she has 4 sisters and 1 brother. Sister Hyun Jung graduated from Hae Wha Girls High School in 1991. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from Kyung Buk University, Korea in 1995. In 1998, she earned a Bachelor of Arts, Social Work from Soong Shil University, Korea and a Master of Science, Social Work in 2006 from Catholic University, Korea.
She first began working with the Maryknoll Sisters in an effort to empower women trapped in the brutal world of prostitution and sexual abuse.
Sister Hyun Jung entered the Congregation at the Maryknoll Sisters Center, Maryknoll, NY on August 16th, 2006. She pronounced First Vows at the Sisters Center on August 14th, 2011 and Final Vows on August 3rd, 2016 in East Timor.
Her first mission assignment was to Brazil in 2012.
In 2015, Sister Hyun Jung was assigned to East Timor where she continues to make God’s love visible.
