The murder of four U.S. churchwomen in El Salvador in 1980 was one of the defining events of its time: an act of appalling brutality and at the same time a singular witness to the power of the Cross. Now Jeanne Evans has compiled the writings of one these martyrs, Ita Ford, a native of New York and a Maryknoll Sister. Largely through her letters, this book traces a spiritual journey from her early life and decision to enter Maryknoll, to experiences in Chile and Nicaragua that altered and deepened her understanding of the Gospel.
