Sister Anastasia Lindawati, M.M. was born in Jombang, Indonesia, the oldest of two sisters and a brother. She attended Catholic school from her youth through high school and became a Catholic in 1989. Her home parish is St. Joseph, Mojokerto, Indonesia. Sister Anastasia attended Bogor Agricultural University, earning a B.A. in Animal Husbandry. Having worked in several small businesses in Jakarta, Tulungagung and Surabaya, Sister Anastasia returned to Narotama University and earned an M.A. in Financial Management.

She heard about Maryknoll from Father Agustinus Surianto, a diocesan priest in Bogor Diocese. Then she met Father Ridwan Amo, who had been taught by Sister Dorothy McGowan, M.M. in Indonesia who also recommended Maryknoll. Finally she found The Maryknoll Sisters website and learned about the Sisters work in mission in different countries.

Sister Anastasia entered Maryknoll on August 11, 2007, after completing a live-in experience in various houses of the Maryknoll Sisters in the Philippines. She spent two years in our Orientation house in Chicago, studying part time at the Catholic Theological Union and doing part-time ministry in Bonaventure House, Aid for Women, University of Chicago Hospital and the Chinese American Service League.

Sister Anastasia made her first profession of religious vows at Maryknoll, NY and on Mission Sunday, October 18, 2009, Sister Anastasia was assigned to the China region.

Sister Anastasia studied Putonghua in Guangzhou and helped the Indonesians both in Hong Kong and Guangzhou. She was a volunteer for the financial literacy program at Pathfinders and Maryknoll Society House.

Sister Anastasia visits women inmates in Hong Kong, does cyber ministry, and does volunteer work both at Holy Family Church and hospitals in Shenzhen.
