At Christmas, we celebrate “God’s love made visible” in our world in Jesus. Since 1996, Sister Miriam Francis Perlewitz has been making God’s love visible through her educational ministry at the BACHA school in Bangladesh. She is still hard at work at 94!
In Bangladesh, where poverty is widespread and there is constant pressure to “escape” into drug abuse, drinking or gang activity, the school provides high-quality education to low income students. Sister Miriam says that “in Bangla the word bacha also means to rise up or to live again” teaching the students how to use the blessings of education to make things better for themselves and for their communities.
When the BACHA school started, there were 24 young children in a small rented building. Today there are about 800 students and more than 100 teachers and staff. All this was made possible because of your generosity and caring. We thank you and ask that you please help us be able to continue this vital work as we join together in the building of God’s Kingdom on earth.
